Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Poplar Pike Arts Guild (PPAG)?
Organized in 1983, PPAG is a non-profit support group for theatre, speech, and music at Germantown High School (GHS). We provide scholarships, equipment, transportation, luncheons, and of course, audiences. We are available and responsive as special needs arise.
Who belongs to the Poplar Pike Arts Guild?
Parents of students and former students, teachers, alumni and arts patrons. Quite simply, anyone, who appreciates the arts programs at GHS and wants to ensure their continuance and growth.
Why should I join?
Because the arts program needs your support! If you think the arts at GHS are important, and especially if you have a student in the program, we need you. The arts are often overlooked for funding when sports and academics are on the list. All are important for growth, but theatre, acting, cable television, broadcast journalism, music and fine arts give our teenagers an opportunity for creative expression as well as a chance to learn professional discipline. The experience gained in these activities proves very valuable after high school.
Where does the guild meet?
At GHS several times a year, a general meeting is held in conjuction with a performance, speaker, tour or other event. Every year PPAG sponsors Opening Nights for the fall and spring plays. The Germantown Festival has been an annual opportunity to have fun and raise money at the same time.
When do I sign up?
Right now! We have several events planned for the fall and we need your help to make them successful.
